Hurricane Melissa has left a deep mark on our Cycle Jamaica and its extended family : especially the Rio Bueno School which has extensive damage to the grounds, windows, equipment and some of the roofing.
But we believe in the power of community and kindness. For years, Cycle Jamaica has proudly served visitors and locals across Jamaica — creating unforgettable travel experiences, supporting local tourism, and giving back to our communities.
Now, we’re asking your help to support our identified charities, through THEAFJ.ORG which will oversee the appropriate distribution to the entities we have agreed to help. The Major one being the RIO BUENO primary School. I only spoke with the Principal to date and she sent some images but this platform really isnt good for sharing the images.
The school has primarily a concrete slab roof so it fared better than others but some zinc areas were damaged, and they had some flooding. Windows are expensive and they had extensive window damage.
Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference in helping their recovery.
The AFJ will not disburse until we reach $5000 so please share this message!
If there are extra funds they do want to pave the front area as it's often muddy and this is the only common area for the children. We would like to keep this charity Active all year round, as a part of our regular charity for this particular school that always entertains our people. Its a rural school - public, free of charge for all students The Principal and teachers work so hard and take great pride in their little school.Children are always so polite and well mannered.
Together, we can rebuild stronger, brighter, and more united than ever. 💛🌴
